Sumbal rape case: Chargesheet against accused soon, says police | KNO

Bandipora, May 22 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that a chargesheet against the accused in Sumbal rape case will be filled soon in the court. According to KNO Correspondent, a police official said, “Incident involving an assault on a 3-year-old girl in Sumbal is very much true and based on facts and evidence.” “Bandipora police is going to file the chargesheet in the court against the arrested accused soon,” he said. “People are requested not to believe in rumors. Strict action will be taken against people spreading false and misleading information,” said the police official. On May 8, a three-year old girl was allegedly raped in Sumbal area of Bandipora by her neighbour, triggering widespread anger in the form of public protests and clashes in the Valley. A 23-year-old youth, Irshad also injured during government forces action on May 13 in Chanabal area of Pattan, later succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura. Pertinently, last month, a girl from Aragam Bandipora committed suicide due to the repeated sexual exploitation by her father. (KNO)
